The most sensible advice I can offer about successfully growing orchids is choose the species that are suited to grow in the environment in which you live.
Think about the average seasonal temperatures, and the weather patterns. Also, think about the space you can, or want to provide. Will you be growing indoors in your living room, or do you plan to have a dedicated greenhouse space? Choose an orchid that is right for your location.
The most common mistake, and the most common reason for poor growth, is trying to grow the wrong orchid for the environment you have.
Plant hardiness zones are based on the average annual minimum temperature for each zone.
